LATEST RETURNS (British Official Wireless.) Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright RUGBY, May 19. e (Received May 20, at 1.5 p.tn») The Exchequer returns show that the total inland revenue, excluding selfbalancing items, amounts to £69,973,534, compared 'with £80,357,781 at the corresponding date last year. Receipts from surtax are £3,140,000, against £2,930,000 for the same period last financial year, although the £9,739,000 from income tax is nearly £2,000,000 less than last year, thus illustrating the delayed effects of recovery on the yield of the surtax. Customs revenue is £25,508,000, against £24,819,000 a year ago. The total ordinary expenditure, exclusive of self-balancing items, is £IOO,810,376, against £98,337,163 at the cor--esponding date in 1935.
