RUGBY At Carisbrook to-morrow the public Yvill have an opportunity of seeing both Southern and University A in action. Both theso teaifts appear to have firstclass teams, and present indications point to them fighting out the premiership At 3 p.m. Southern will meet Pirates. Pirates put up a very good shoYving in their first match against Union, and expect to slioyv improvement. Southern have proved a good all-round side, and Yvill no doubt bo a hard proposition. As a curtain-raiser, University A wi 11 meet Zingari-Rich-mond. The University A gave a very sparkling display in its opening game, ami the public should see some sonic spectacular football by the students in their match against Zingari-Richniond. While Zingnri is not a particularly strong side, the team is usually capable of putting up a strong opposition against opponents.

At the Caledonian Ground Union will meet Alhambra. Union appear to be a much improved side, and will be a team that Yvill have to he reckoned with as the season progresses. Alhambra also put up a good game in its opening match of the season. As a curtain-raiser the fifth grade match between Dunedin and High School should provide an interesting game. At Bishopscourt, Kaikorai Yvill meet Taicri. Though the former’s performance in the opening engagement yv.ts disappointing, tliis cannot be taken as a criterion of true form. The 'laicn, while being somewhat on the light side, pleased supporters by the game put up in the opening engagement. As a curtain-raised the fourth grade match High School and Kaikorai should also provide spectators with some interesting football. On the University Oval- University B will meet Dunedin. SOCCER Matches for the principal trophy—the Fletcher Cup—will be resumed, when the main interest will centre in the meeting between Maori Hill (last year’s cup winners) and Seacliff, at Logan Park. Tiieso teams are expected to go far in this season’s competition, and spectators have every reason to expect keen and exciting play.
