KING EDWARD. LONDON, April .'SO. The ‘ Daily Mail ’ says the King intends to visit tho Mediterranean and Riviera in the course of his summer holiday. It adds that it is known that tho Royal yacht has been ordered to be ready for service. UNCONSCIOUS ON DOORSTEP. In the early hours of yesterday morning a Taumarunui doctor was roused by a loud knocking at his door, and found a young man, C. D. Henderson (18), unconscious on the doorstop with several wounds in his head and covered in blood-. Ho was sent to the hospital, where later he regained, consciousness, but was unable to explain how he had received his injuries.—Press Association. CRUISER DUNEDIN FOR HOME. Our Parliamentary representative telegraphs :—With the arrival in New Zealand waters of tho two modern cruisers, Achilles and Leantier, the Dunedin will return to England. It has been decided by the naval authorities that the Dunedin will leave the Dominion at a date that will ensure her arrival at Home not later than January next, and she will not return to New Zealand. PLEAS OF GUILTY. Evidence was given by the managing director of Roach’s that he and another, as a result of missing goods, slept on the premises last Saturday. They locked up at about 11 p.m., and at 1 a.m. two men were seen to enter the shop. Tho police were sum-' inoned, and when the accused were accosted in the shop, they said they had found tho door unlocked, and were inspecting the premises. Witnesses identified the goods stolen from their premises, and the police gave evidence concerning the statements made by the accused, in which they admitted the charges. On the summary charges OJeaver (watchman) was sentenced to one month's and Baxter (constable) to six months’ imprisonment. The accused both pleaded guilty to the remaining charges, and were committed to the Supreme Court for sentence.— Hastings message. [The case is reported elsewhere.] COLLAPSE IN PARLIAMENT GALLERY. An elderly man who has not yet been identified collapsed suddenly in the public gallery of the House of Representatives yesterday, and died before a doctor arrived. It is stated that the man was a frequent visitor to the gallery. He was apparently about 05 years of age. —Press Association. STOCK EXCHANGE.
