RIFLE SHOOTING
KIWI DEFENCE CLUB The Kiwi Eifle Club fired the second shoot of the No. 6 match ou Saturday in overcast weather, with a light rain at limes from the south-west. The match was over the 500yds and 600yds Tanges, and the conditions were 10 shots with two optional sighters at each range. Some good scores were, registered, Deputy-president F. Clayton heading the list with 95 off the rifle. The best at 500yds was Deputy-presi-dent Clayton, with 49, and Kifleman Gillick, 48, at 600yds. Scores; —
DUNEDIN DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB The Dunedin Defence Eifle Club shot a competition on Saturday afternoon, the scores counting for , the club's championship and Murray trophy. Threatened rain affected the attendance, which was moderate. Ten shots (two optional sighters) each were fired at 500 and 600 yards. There was a slight drizzle at times, with dull light and -a fishtail breeze from the right front. Several good scores were registered, notably 48 each at 500yds by Eillemeh J. L. Benfell, VV. A; Graham, O. G. Miller, and A. W. Cooper, the first-named taking pride of place with a seven-bull finish; also 48 each at 600yds by Eifleman J. L. Benfell and Captain A. J. S. Cowie. The day's aggregate was headed by Eifleman J. L. Benfell with an excellent 96. The scoring generally was above the average. Following are the scores;—
