HIBERNIAN SOCIAL AND DEBATING CLUB
On. Monday evening a highly-educa-tional and entertaining series of leeturettes was given at the club room. There was a good attendance of members, pre-, sided over by Mr A. Gillick. The_ first item for the evening w r as a graphic description of a walking tour undertaken by Mr F. R. Thompson and his companions. Mr Thompson recounted his experience while tramping over the Haast Pass to the West Coast, and by the use of the photographs taken on the tour, admirably described the beauties of the scenery and humorous sidelights of the trip. Mr J. J. Kennedy then proceeded to give an account of the Milford Track, and a tour which he made of that beauty spot. Mr Kennedy’s experiences were of remarkable interest, and all present were keen to appreciate the value of such a lecture.
A hearty vote of thanks to both lecturers was carried.
