POST OFFICE CONTRACT
WORKERS DEMAND 40-HOUR WEEK
The building trade workers era* ployed on the Dunedin Post Office con* tract at a meeting held yesterday, unanimously adopted ,the following resolution, which has been forwarded to the Minister of Labour (the Hon. H, T. Armstrong)
“ That this meeting of industrial workers notes with alarm the statements of the Minister of Labour indicating unwillingness to introduce the 40-hour week and demands that the Government honour its election pledges by the immediate introduction, as a national measure, of the 40-hour week without reduction in pay, and also- the full restoration of all wage cuts. We further demand that as a workers’ Government you carry out legislation in the’interests of the majority, the workers, whom you wera elected to represent.”
