WEATHER FORECAST
COOL AND CHANGEABLE The following weather forecast was issued at noon by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, covering the southern district—Dunedin, Port Chalmers, Tapanui, Winton, Invercargill, Riverton, Orepuki, Bluff, Halfmoon Bay:— A depression is moving off the North! Island, and a slight anti-cyclone is approaching across the Tasman Sea, Pressure is .till high to the east. Forecast: Moderate to strong southerly, winds. Weather cool and changeable, with scattered showers. Seas moderate, but rising. SUN LIGHTLY VEILED. Sultry, uncomfortable heat prevailed this morning, when the sun was veiled behind light, hazy clouds, after; a sharp fall of ryn during the early hours before dawn, totalling ,06in. A, falling tendency was shown by the. barometer, which read 29.7 in at noon, two points below yesterday’s recording. It was a fairly calm day, and slightly warmer than yesterday, the noon temperature being 68deg, aa against a maximum of half a degree more for the whole of yesterday. Last' night the minimum reading was 56.9 degrees and this morning 61.5deg.c The weather became overcast this afternoon, and rain again threatened.
