LABOUR’S POLICY.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —I believe that some of the proposed legislation of the Labour Party will be for the good of_the community. For instance, the lowering of the school age from six to five. Mothers will be glad to get rid of the children between those ages during school hours; also it will provide work for more teachers. The reopening of the Training College is also a good thing, as it places Dunedin pupils on an equality with other centres. If the sales tax and unemployment levy and the exchange are lifted it will benefit many. We would not mind paying an increased unemployment tax, as this tax is based on the amount of our income. The proposed legislation I_ warn the Labour Party against is fixing the price of the produce which goes on the London market, and the “ nationalisation of industries.” If these things are done it may lose millions of pounds for our beloved country, which surely is heavilv enough in debt as it is. Let the Government take warning from Australia, who nationalised the shipping and brickyards, both of which were gigantic failures.—l am, etc., Truth at Ant Cost. January 29.
