THE QUADRUPLETS.
TO THE EDITOR Sir, —I learn by the local dailies that the Johnson quadruplets are now under their parents’ care. How is a mother to look after those four babies and her other home duties? I say it is impossible. It is up to the Government and people of New Zealand, and Dunedin in particular, to give them the means of livelihood, as it cannot be done on a man’s wages. I would respectfully suggest that tho dailies open their columns to a subscription list. There should he no difficulty in raising from £SOO to £I,OOO in New Zealand, to bo subsidised to an equal amount by the Government. Our wortbv quadruple M.P.s would see to that, and let us not be branded as the meanest people in the world. We have the name now of being very generous, so let us prove it in this case. I enclose my mite as a working man. Will you please forward for the immediate use of the babies, as I do not know them or their address. The Plunket nurses have done wonders for them, and deservo tho thanks of -Nsw Zealand for their great skill-and care. Now let us do our part.—l am, etc., January 27. Anxious. [Donation of £1 enclosed. —Ed. E.S.]
