WON BY AUCKLAND [l’eb United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, January 26. The Cornwell Cup contest for class Z 12ft Gin Takapuna one-design boats was concluded at Bays water yesterday'. Auckland (R. Bailey and L. Jordan), by its success in the tenth race, notched its third win and iron the cup. The result was held over pending the hearing of a protest bv Plimmerton against Hamilton. The protest was dismissed. Three races were sailed during the day. A light, variable wind prevailed for the morning race, which resulted in Christchurch gaining its first win by 3min 3sec from Otago. Wellington as third, Imin 56sec later. _ Taurange took an early lead in iho next race, and stood Auckland oft to win by 25sec. Plimmerton was third, Imin 16sec later. The remainder .ere all close up. The tenth race resulted in Aucknad defeating Plimmerton by Imin 45sec. Tauranga was third, 2miu 34sec later. The ports with wins it the conclusion of the contest were: Auckland, three. SWIMMING GALA KAIKORAI CLUB’S FIXTURE The third annual carnival of the ■Kaikorai Swimming Club was held at the Kaikorai Baths on Saturday afternoon under perfect weather conditions. There was a good l attendance of members and visitors, some 200 people being present. The various events were put through in a most satisfactory manner. The officials were:—Messrs A.
