MAINLY FINE The following weather forecast was issued at noon by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, covering the southern district-yDuncdin, Port Chalmers* Tapanui, Winton, Invercargill, Riverton, Orepuki, Bluff, Qalfmoon Bay:—. The recent disturbance is moving slowly eastward, but another shallow:, depression is advancing across the Tasman Sea. Forecast': Light to moderate south-west to westerly winds, later veering again to northerlies. Weather mainly fair to cloudy, but with soma scattered showers inland, and light rain on the south coast. Temperature* moderate to warm. Seas slight to* moderate. WARM AND OVERCAST. Weather conditions were dull yester-* day afternoon, clouds obscuring the sun! till about 5 p.m. From then till sunset it shone brightly. The temperature did not rise above 58.6 deg, the minimum reading being 62.2 deg. A short but heavy shower of rain measuring ,02in fell about 10 p.m., but the nightr was warm and the ground had dried) by this morning. The sun was again! overcast throughout this morning, but) conditions became somewhat brighter toward midday. There was no wind* Up to noon to-day the maximum ternnerature was 62deg and the minimum! £S7.Bdeg. The barometer was rising alj 29.7 in.
