GYMNASTIC DISPLAY

ST. HILDA'S COLLEGIATE SCHOOL In the St. Hilda’s School gymnasium on Thursday the annual gymnastic competition was held. In each section the work was of a high standard, showing credit to the training. The work included vaulting, rope climbing, balancing, and, in the senior table, leg circling and backward somersaulting on the parallel bars, and oblique rope climbing. 'Mr Hanna, the judge, in his concluding speech praised the girls’ work highly and congratulated Miss Peake. He emphasised .the necessity for good health and physical fitness in the making of a healthy and happy future. The successful competitors were Kathleen Sutherland in the junior, with Dorothy Walls runner-up; Huia Parata in the intermediate, followed by Daphne Elder; and Barbara Dodgshun in the senior section, with Patricia Watts a very close second
