OTAGO HEALTH CAMPS
PROCEEDS FROM COMMUNITY SING A community sing in the Octagon Theatre yesterday netted about £l2 towards the health camps at Waikouaiti and Company’s Bay. The sing was originally arranged for the purpose of supplementing the Central - Mission Christmas parcels fund, but in view of the urgent need for funds for the health camps of Otago, an appeal was made on. their behalf. _ ■ ' An attractive programme was drawn up for the occasion, and the artists who contributed items received a warm reception. They were Nada and Maurina Phillips (jazz harmony and musical duet 1 ), Treverson Phillips (tap dance). Miss' Lexie Mathieson (humorous recital) , Mr C. H. Lewis (song, ‘ Sweet Mystery of Life ’), Miss Lettie d© Clifford and Mr A. H. Jeavons (vocal duet and solos), and Miss Rebecca Foote (soprano solo). A touch of variety waa lent to the proceedings by the offerings of Miss Marguerita Cotton, a local sculptor and sketcher. Mr Arthur Macdonald '.wielded the baton, Dr A. T. Lewis was master of ceremonies, and Mr Chas, Parnell pianist. The Rev. L. B. Neale, who ia associated with the health camp movement, wishes to express thanks to the Octagon Theatre management for the use of the theatre and to the theatre staff which organised a produce stall and other details in connection with the sing.
