REOPENING OF HIS MAJESTY'S

UNIVERSITY DRAMATIC PRODUCTION The University Dramatic: Society has gained considerable distinction by its last two productions, ‘ Rope ’ and The Dover Road,’ and it is anticipated that its 1935 production of ‘ The Roundabout ’ will fully maintain the standard set by its predecessors. ‘ The Roundabout,’ by J. B. Priestley, is a play which has been most successful whenever produced by repertory societies in England, and it is expected that New Zealand audiences will enjoy it equally well. It is a comedy notable for its piquant situations and clever dialogue, and civcs excellent scope for the talent of the players filling the various roles. The cast includes Misses Isobel Newlands, Joyce Hamer, Margot Garrett. Joy Rae, and Mary Mandeno, and Messrs G. E. Moloney, Barry Irvine, Maurice Joel. Henry Williams, and J. T. Moore. • Miss Isobel Newlands and Miss Margot Garrett_ will be remembered for their artistic work in The Dover Road ’ last year, and Mr G. E. Moloney and Mr J. W. Hayward are well-known in repertory circles ; while the remaining members of the cast are alb talented young people who can be relied unon to give a good account of themselves. The production is in the hands of Miss Bessie Thomson, and this fact alone should pronyse well for the success of the presentation. The season commences to-morrow night with a gala performance, preceded by the opening ceremony of the new His' Majesty’s Theatre, and will continue for a season of four nights, ending on Saturday. August 17. Music will be supplied by the D.I.C. Orches|ra. The box plans are at the D.I.C.
