Clyde, president of th© Otago Schools Committees’ Association, left by the second express today to attend the Dominion Association’s conference at Palmerston North.

Dr Ewen, formerly medical superintendent of the Wellington Hospital, returned from post-graduate study in Great Britain yesterday. He stated that a recent striking development was surgery withi respect to the chest for diseases of the lung, such as tuberculosis. but it was of value only in certain selected cases. Regarding diabetes. Dr Ewen said that very good; results were being obtained from insulin, plus a more liberal diet than was allowed when insulin was first discovered.
