NORTHERN BEATEN MBLYH-WAKARI THE VICTORS After a comparatively uninteresting game on Prospect Park, Roslyn-Wakan beat Northern to the tune of 2-0. Northern showed up in the opening stages, but Roslyn-Wakari gradually assumed the upper hand, and finished up with a lead of two goals, both scored by Welham. The teams were:— Roslyn,—Agnew, Coates, Ramage, Smythe, Scott, M‘Cal lion, A. Campbell, Welham, Munsie, Rutherford, Copland, Northern.—Hall, Ruddiman, Smith Faithful, Thomson, Sutherland, Smith, Henderson, Perat. Anderson, Buchanan. Northern kicked off and a short period of indecisive play followed. Northern then carried the play into their opponent’s territory, but were unable to score. Relief was obtained from a corner kick, and the Whites then had their own way for a time. Good combination and passing on the part of the Northern forwards then put them in an attacking position. There were several attempts to goal, but the angle was to much, while the goalie made one splendid save, punching the ball over the bar with a most spectacular jump. Roslyn again foilnd a weak spot in the defence and broke through. They carried play right to their opponents’ goal, and then Welham sent in a neat shot which beat the custodian and opened the scoring. Roslyn-Wakari 1, Northern 0. The tame then ranged up and down the eld until thh whistle was blown for half-time. The opening stages of the second spell were quiet, without either team showing any superiority. * The ageressor, if' any, was Roslyn-Wakan. . hortly afterwards, when Roslyn was in a good position, the ball went into the net,, but the goal was disallowed. Roslyn clearly had the advantage about this stage, and Were pressing , their opp hard, but they lacked the final “ push ” to carry them trough. Several, fruitless attempts

to goal were made, then Campbell centred and the goalie ran out to intercept, but was beaten by Welham, who scored a neat goal. RoslynWakari 2, Northern 0. The game ended shortly afterward: Roslyn-Wakari ; ••• 2 Northern 0 • Mr V. Dickei was referee.

TECHNICAL WELL BEATEN PRNINGTOH TOO CLEVER Morning never ' rd a beaten team in . . ga. ,o >. .ch Technical, whose combination was very patchy throughout. In contrast, the Hill eleven gave a promising display, the forward line being a potent cause towards victory. . The teams were:— Mornington; N. M'Quarrie, Donaldson, M‘ivay, A, M : Quame, Morris, Murphy, Scofield, Ft ,ning, Henderson, Cope, Cooper. Technical: Tointon. Addison, Beale, Smith, Patton, Wilkinson, Witdliall, Trehilcock, Skinner, Groves, Jones, , The first 10 minutes’ play favoured Mornington, the Technical go’alie being called on to save on three occasions, Both sides were very indefinite in the shooting area, and several good chances, especially in favour of Mornington, went abegging, Mornington’a attack soon after met its reward, for after Fleming and Cope had made unsuccessful efforts to score Henderson received close in and made a forceful drive. Mornington 1, Technical .0. Mornington’s forward line, showing good combination, with Fleming and Henderson always to the fore, battered the Technical area without respite, and the ball was again shot into the net, after the referee had awarded a penalty for hands. Donaldson’s kick gave Tointon no chance. Mornington. 2, Technical 0. For the first time for a lengthy period Technical-gave some semblance of combined play, Smith saving two feeble shots with ease- The Hill eleven went ahead again. After another assault, a high kick by Cope at full-back being sent bn by Murphy, Fleming receiving a perfect cross and steadying up well to send the ball past Tointon. Mornington 3, Technical 0. Fleming was given a royal chance of netting immediately after, there being only the goalie to beat, but bis shot went over the top. _ At this stage Mornington wore continuously on the attack, the halves and forwards being at all times in complete communication, and with a weal? defence to contend with, the latter line had matters practically its own way. Just at the close' of the spell the Technical forwards obtained possession, Patton crossing to Witohall, and his transference to-Skinner found a hole in the defence, the right wing piloting a snappy drive past Smith. Mornington 3, ’lechnical 1. Technical were again hard, pressed at the recommencement, Tointon ’ saving brilliantly. Aimless kicking by both sides, and safer full-back work by Addison and Beale, was relieved by a bright-patch of play by a now more organised Technical team. Hill conceded a corner, and from a melee in the goal mouth, Groves headed in past Smith. Mornington 3, Technical 2. Hill moved , into action, the ball, going down field and being carried into position, Fleming moving in and shooting, but his shot went high. Mornington were given a penalty kick from just a few yards inside of. halfway, ana Morris found the net with, a perfect shot. Mornington 4, Technical 2. Nearing time, Hill put in another •sallie, which met with success, Schofield netting, and the game ending:— Mornington £ Technical " Mr F. S. Smith was referee.
