There arc few ailments as uncomfortable as well as disfiguring as winter-time hands. General care can do much, and this means cotton gloves for dry work and rubber when water must be dealt with. A good hand lotion will relievo and soothe tho ■chaps and chilblains that have at ready appeared. Here is a lotion that may bo made' at home and which will prove most effective J-pint rain water. 2bz glycerine. 2oz methylated spirits (approx', i-cup). Joz tragicanth powder. Method: Mix together the water and glycerine and then the powder and methylated spirits; mix the two mixtures together and stir well. Place in a wide-necked bottle, as the mixture forms a jelly.
