TEAROOM EMPLOYEES.
TO mu EDITOJ!. Sir,—The award covering girls and women employed as waitresses in tearooms States definitely that no female worker shall be employed after the houl\ of 10.30 p.m., yet every night in the week we are still working at 11 p.m., without any payment or consideration of any kind; If we were to commence our duties 10, 15, or 30 minutes late’’ our boss would bo demanding explanations and threatening us with dismissal, .yet we have to work this extra time and say nothing for fear of our jobs. We have frequently approached our union secretary, but all the satisfaction we get is “ 1 cannot do anything.” The Labour Party has been asking-for outvotes, but they will not be given if the Party does not stand behind the workers and their rights. [ wonder if the secretary will tell us through your paper why ,he cannot rectify this matter. This complaint is only one of many others.—T am, etc., WpBKEU. * May 11.
