SALVAGED RUPEE NOTES

(Received May 11, at 1.30 a.m.) Giving its decision in connection with the notes from the Egypt, the court decided that the salvagers were entitled to £1,600, but must restore the rest of the notes to the State of Hyderabad. [A message received on January 22 sated: The ‘ Daily Express'’ says it was recently discovered that _ £500,000 worth of rupee notes were circulating on the Continent. Inquiry showed that these had been salvaged from the Egypt. How the notes came to be circulated has not been discovered. The owners of the salvage ship - Artiglio 11. have lodged a. claim in Milan for £500,000 from the underwriters, who paid for the gold and silver salvage, but refused to pay for the rupee potes.]
