SUNDAY SERVICES

Dr C. W. Gordon (“Ralph Connor”) will conduct the ' services in First Church at 11 a.m. The Rev. Allen Stevely will preach in the evening, the subject being ‘ The Triumph of Trust.’ Dr V. B. Galway will be the organist. Donations for the ,l picnic fund ” should be placed in the box in the vestibule. The morning service in Knox Church will be conducted by Rev. D, C. Herron. The preacher for the evening will be Dr C. W. Gordon (“ Ralph Connor ”), of Winnipeg. In St. Stephen’s Church the preacher will be the Rev. Thomas Miller, whose subject - at the forenoon service will be ‘ When the Fire Fell,' and at the evening service ‘ What is the Greatest Sin of All?’ The soloist will be Miss Agnes Fordyce. At the service in the Anderson’s, Bay Presbyterian Church in the evening extracts from Sir John Stainer’s ‘ The Crucifixion ’ will be rendered by the choir. The tenor solos, ‘ The Agony ’ and 4 King Ever Glorious,’ will be sung by Mr Alan Highct. The baritone solo, ‘ And As Moses,’ will be rendered by Mr J. Clark. The duet, ‘So Thou Liftest Thy Divine Petition,' will also be sung. The Easter anthem from ‘ Cayalleria Rusticana,’ with Miss Dorothy Sligo as soloist, is included in the Easter music to be rendered. The Rev. R. T. Dodds will conduct both services at the South Dunedin Presbyterian Church. At the evening service the choir will sing ‘ The Passion of Christ ’ (Somervell), assisted by Miss Lettie de Clifford, Miss Dorothy Allan, Mr J. B. Davies, and Mr B. T. Ottrey as soloists. Selections from ‘ The Messiah ’ will be rendered at the evening service in the Maori Hill Presbyterian Church. The soloists will be Miss Giles, Miss Howden, and Mr E. Benton. Mr Chas. A. Martin will be at the organ. At All Saints’ Church in the evening the cantata, ‘ Eastertide,’ will be sung by the choir. This work will be quite new to Dunedin. It consists of several beautiful choruses and solos, which will be sung by: Soprano, Mrs hTorth; contralto, Mrs Mains; tenor, Mr Geo. Mackay; bass, Mr Bryan Dickenson and Mr Warmam ‘The organ part will be played by Mr A. W. Lilly. The Rev. C. H. Olds will preach both morning and evening at Trinity Methodist-' Church, Stuart street. His evening subject will be ‘ Life-saving.’ Mrs J. Stewart (nee Miss Bessie Olds), a member of the Christchurch Harmonic Society, will sing ‘ 0 Divine Redeemer.’ The anthem will be ‘ Evening and Morning.’ The Rev. Leslie Neale will be the preacher at the Methodist Central Mission. In the evening Mr. Neale will preach on ‘Why Not Try a Prayer Wheel?’ The soloist will be Mrs Nelson Kerr, of Christchurch. The morning service at Dundas Street Methodist Church will be' conducted by Rev. Percy Cooke. Parents, afternoon, at 2.30; men’s fellowship, at 5; ‘Olivet to Calvary,’ at 6.30. Services at St. Kilda Methodist Church will be conducted by Mr, Frank Winton, M.A., in the morning and Mr Allan Ganderton in the evening. Rev. T. Skuse commences his ministry on Sunday next, April 20. ' The services at the Caversham Baptist Church will be conducted by the Rev. R. L. Fursdon. The boys and girls of the brigades will parade at the morning service. An item of interest will-be the, presentation of a coveted honour, the King’s badge, to Lance-corporal Len. Craig. The evening subject is ‘ Gethsemaue.’ PreEaster music will be rendered by the choir. First Church of Christ, Scientist, will conduct services in Allbell Chambers, 154 Stuart street. The subject for the morning and evening services will be * Are Sin, and Death Real?’ At the Theosophical Society there will bo an address on ‘The Realm of Mind ’ by Mrs A. Watson. _ At the Congregational Church the Rev. Albert Mead , will continue the series of addresses on the * Major Message of the Minor Prophets; (3) Micah,’ ,in ,the v morning, and ■ the subject of the evening address will be ‘The Ministry, of Women.’ ‘ Lift Thine Eyes,’ from ‘ Elijah,’ will be sung by a ladies’ trio, the choir will render ‘ God So Loved the World ’ : (Stainer), and Mr . Alfred Walmsley , will sing 'Where’er You Walk’ (Handel), A social hour will follow the evening service. A special musical service will be held at the united Congregational Church in the evening, when Maunder’s cantata ‘ Penitence, Pardon, and’ Peace ’ will be presented by the choir, with Mrs D. E. Ewart and Mr J. Galloway as soloists. The subject at the morning service will be ‘ The Pentecostal Quest.’ The Rev. C. G. Hedley Bycroft will conduct both services. ‘ The Wise Men of the East ’ is the title of Mr J. M. M’Ewan’s address at the Spiritualist Church in the evening. After the address Mrs Brooks will give demonstrations of spiritual clairvoyance. Healing Centre on Thursday evening.
