O.R.F.U. COMMITTEE ALL GRADES START ON APRIL 27 Tho Management Committee of the Otago Rugby Union met last night, those present being Messrs J. B. Wootton (president), J. Mitchell, H. Harris, V. G. Cavanagh, D. M. Stuart, T. O’Shea, A. H. Cameron, H. Perry, A. Haynes, I. Grant, W. G. Glengarry, S. G. Styche, W. Alexander, A., Grant, A. J. Haub, Douglas M. Spedding, W. Pearson, J. Muirhead, Dr A. Perry, and Dr H. Harty. Tlio chairman welcomed two new members of the committee, Messrs Muirhead and Perry. AWARD OF BLAZERS. The question of drawing up a recommendation defining the qualifications of a representative player entitled to a blazer was referred to the Finance Committee. It was stated at the annual meeting that a blazer was awarded a player who had taken part in three representative games. SUB-COMMITTEES APPOINTED. The following sub-committees were elected for the ensuing season;— Competitions: Messrs J. B. Wootton, A. C. Haynes, and T. O’Shea. Finance: Messrs S. G. Styche (convener), Doqglas M. Spedding. H. Carisbrook Ground: Messrs H, Harris (convener), V. G. Cavanagh, W. Alexander. H. Y. Perry, and W. Pearson. Correspondence: Messrs H. Harris, Douglas M. Spedding, and the secretary. Reinstatement and Judicial:_ Messrs H. Harris, Douglas M. Spedding, 0. M, Stuart (convener), S. G. Stycne, and W. Alexander. Selection: Messrs D. M. Stuart (convener), W. Pearson, and Dr Perry. SECRETARY REAPPOINTED. Mr B. S. Wilson was reappointed secretary for the ensuing year. The question of remuneration was referred to the Finance Committee. FLAG RULES. On behalf of the Competitions Committee, Mr T O’Shea submitted a new flag rule in respect to the postponement of matches. It was proposed that in the event of games set down for any Saturday being postponed by the committee, the committee should have the power to play such postponed matches on such a date or dates ns the committee at its discretion might appoint, instead of on the following Saturday.— This was approved by the meeting. It was also proposed that , where a team might be short of two or three players taking part in the trial matches this season the Competitions Committee should have power to alter, if necessary, the draw for that particular date. In the course of discussion the majority of members thought the proposal would create a dangerous precedent, and the matter was dropped. START OF SEASON. It was decided to start matches in all grades on Saturday, April 27. JUNIOR SELECTION COMMITTEE, i It was decided to ask the clubs to forward nominations for members of the Junior Selection Committee, to be sent in not later than May 6. TRANSFERS GRANTED. Transfers were granted to players as follow: J. Baird, from the Ranfurly Club to Ravensbourne. _ W. Jamieson, from Heriot to Kaikorai. _ A, L. Marion, from the Maheno Club to Dunedin. T. F. M'Donald, from Pirates to Dunedin. W. Mason, Ravensbourne to Zmgari. W. Dickson, from the Nightcaps Club to Dunedin. Robert A. Green, from Pirates to Alhambra. E. Bezett, from Zingari to Green Island. R. Findlay, from Taien to West Taieri. M. J. Hanan, from the Awakino Club to Pirates. A. V. M'Ghee, from Brighton to Southern. MONTECILLO GROUND. The town clerk wrote in reply to a letter from the union, stating that he had been directed to state that Montecillo ground was thoroughly top-dressed and sown last spring in accordance with tho undertaking given. Mr O’Shea: We would like to know what is meant by “ thoroughly.” Tho letter was referred to the Works. Committee. GENERAL. The Pirates Club was granted the use of Carisbrook ground for training purposes. Mr H. Harris was appointed to represent the committee at the diamond jubilee dinner of the Carisbrook Cricket Club on Thursday night.
