Baruch, a former chairman of the >Vai Industries Board, recommended evciy safeguard possible to allow - the nation jto remain neutral in the event of another European war. He urged legislation to prevent shipments of war gear to the belligerents and the granting of passports to the trouble zone only with a clear understanding that the Government was not responsible for the safety of the individual taking the risk. Mr Baruch expressed the opinion that another war “ on the other side ” would very nearly “ burn up ” all the remaining resources of the world, and, if America were involved, it would tome near to wrecking Western civilisation
