On the eve of the first Nazi Government a fire was discovered In this building and Marinus van dor Lubbe. a Dutch Communist, was subsequently tried and executed for this outrage which, the Nazis said, was to be the signal for a Communist rising. At Munich (the town hall of which is shown on the right) the Nazi Party had its birth in a beerhall. Few present at that meeting of 16 enthusiasts could have foreseen the tremendous hold Nazi-ism was destined to have in Germany.
