It is intended to devote some space in each Saturday’s issue to items of interest to croquet players. Correspondence is invited and inquiries as to fine points of the game or other matters connected with croquet will be answered as far as possible. Personal. Mrs W. N. Corbett, who was a member of the New Zealand ■ team visiting Australia, returned to Dunedin on Wednesday. Shield Matches. Senior Shield.—Opoho 4, Punga (2) 2. This match, -played on - Alonday, brings this competition to a very interesting point, Opoho has 53 points and Punga (1) 50. These two teams will meet on Tuesday next in the second round, and this will decide the winners of the shield. Last year the three top teams were only separated by one point each. Watea won the shield with 47 points, Punga was second with 46, and Opoho third _ with 45. The final of the Junior Shield matches has still to be played, Wednesday proving too wet for the teams to meet. Gala Day at St, Clair. The St. Clair Club will hold a gala day on its lawns on Friday next, when produce, cake, flower, and fancy stalls will be well stocked. Afternoon tea will be served and competitions arranged during the afternoon. Laws for 1935.
