YEARLY FIGURES ] REVENUE INCREASE 0F £70.000 The customs returns for the twelve months period of 1934-35, which ended to-day, show a substantial, increase over those for the same period of 1933-34. the increase in revenue being over £70,000. The customs returns for the twelve months totalled £668,856 3s lOd, as compared with £596.378 2s Id for the previous twelve months. Beer duty, totalled £239.983 19s 4d, as againsfi £228.753 6s 4d. Petrol tax amounted to £173,161 8s 7d, compared with £159,224 4s Bd. Motor tyre tax was £8.012 18s, as against £6,811. There was a big increase in the amount derived from sales tax, which came te £243 697 12s lOd, as against £216.673 4s 3d. MONTHLY FIGURES. The customs returns for the month ended to-day were £55,802 14s sd, as compared with £55,624 4s 7d for the same period of last year. Beer duty was £15,573 15s, as against £16,362 5a 3d. Petrol tax amounted to £15,857 2s Bd, compared with £14,315 4s sd, and tyre tax to £421 3s 4d, compared with £655 6s. Sales tax amounted to £lB,876 0s Id, as against £18,641 Is 7d.
