COLD AND CHANGEABLE. The following weather forecast was Issued at noon by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, covering the southern district—Dunedin, Port Chalmers, Tapanui, Winton, Invercargill, Riverton, Orepuki, Bluff, Halfmoon Bay: An intense anti-cyclone still coveis Eastern Australia and the Tasman Sea, but a slight secondary depression is crossing the dominion to-day. forecast : Moderate to fresh west winds, backing to south-westward! Weather cold and changeable, with scattered showers. Seas rather rough. FINE, MILD DAY. Temperatures were pleasantly mild to-day after the recent chilly snap, the south-westerly wind having lost most of its force and coldness. In the early morning the sky was clear, but it gradually clouded over, and onlv intermittent sunshine was enjoyed. The noon temperature was 58.2 deg. and the readings for the whole of yesterday were a maximum of 56.5 deg, and a minimum of 47.5 deg. No rain was recorded from early yesterday morning, but the barometer at noon was falling at 29.9 deg.
