SOUTH AFRICA’S BUDGET

MALAN PARTY CRITICISM ; Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright CAPE TOWN, February 27. (Received, February 28, at 10 a.m.) Criticism of the Budget on behalf of the Malan Party was voiced by Dr Vandermere. He said that wealth was being vested in the supertax payers while the country was impoverished. The exports were falling while ' the imports, mainly motor cars, were increasing. The £13,000,000 in postal savings compared unfavourably with New Zealand’s £40,000,000. _ The Budget rested on gold speculation instead of rebuilding' economically. The new tariffs had tightened the Empire economic ring instead of widening trade relations with other countries.
