TEACHING APPOINTMENT
SUCCESS OF DUNEDIN BOY PRINCIPAL OF LARGE MELBOURNE COLLEGE An educational appointment of interest to the people of Dunedin is the selection of the Rev. Brother C. D. Marlow as superior of St. Kevin’s College, Melbourne, conducted by the Christian Brothers. Brother Marlow is a son of Mr J. J. Marlow, the Deputymayor of Dunedin. Born in Melbourne, Victoria, Brother Marlow came to South Dunedin with his parents when ho was one year old. Educated at St. Philomena’s College and later at the Christian Brothers’ High School at Dunedin, he was at the age of fifteen high up on the list of the first hundred successful candidates in the Public Service examination, and secured an appointment in the Health Department. Later he elected to follow the teaching profession, and proceeded to the Christian Brothers’ College at Stathfield, New South Wales, to continue his studies with the idea of becoming a Christian Brother. He was one of the original staff of St. Kevin’s College when it was established in Melbourne. Later he taught at Waverley, N.S.W., and was then transferred back to his old college of St. Kevin’s, Melbourne, this being one, if not the chief, of the educational institutions controlled by the Christian Brothers in the Southern Hemisphere. Now he has been appointed principal of that college.
