GAY SATIRE

BRILLIANT CAST IN ' HOLLYWOOD PARTY ' Hilarious comedy has been delightfully blended with magnificent spectacle and tuneful music in ‘ Hollywood Party,’ the long-awaited musical film which begins on .Friday at the St. James. America’s foremost comedians have been assembled in one of the most side-splitting and satirical pictures seen for some time. Jimmy Durante, as Schnarzan, the Lion-man, gives a brilliant burlesque of Johnny Weissmuller, as does Lupe Velex as Maureen O’bullivan in the role of the Tiger-woman. Schnarzan’s great ambition is to obtain the pack of lions belonging to one Baron Munchausen before his deadly rival Lionora gets a chance to do likewise. He decides to give a dazzling party to welcome the baron to Hollywood. Arrival with his ape bodyguard. Ping Pong, the Jungle King, his Highness receives a wonderful ovation from 300 chorus beauties. Attractions at the party include an orchestra suspended in mid-air, huge glass sets, in which girls dance in cellophane dresses, and a gorgeous Walt Disney Silly ayruphony in technicolour, ‘ The Hot Chocolate Soldiers.’ There has been brilliant camera craft in the scene where Mickey Mouse presents the symphony in person. The revelry is interrupted by the arrival of Laurel and Hardy, owners of the “ Yes and No Farm,” who state that the baron bought the lions from them, giving in exchange a cheque for 50,000 Tiddleywinks.
