BURNS ANNIVERSARY
' To all Scotsmen the approaching anversary of the birth of Scotland’s poet, Robert Burns, is an event to-be honoured. .Burris, iu his short, but fruitful lifetime, left to the world songs aad works which for charm, pathos, and grandeur have never been surpassed. His poem, ‘ A Man’s a Man for a’ That,’ indicates his great depth of feeling for his fellow-men and his independent spirit ranking a man not on his wealth or position, but on bis character and honest worth. Some of his finest songs and poems will be rendered at the anniversary concert to he held in the Concert Chamber of the Town Hal! on Saturday evening. The address is to be delivered by Mr W. R. Brugh. Mrs Wilfred Andrews, of Wellington, will be one of the chief performers, and the following artists will be heard to advantage'.—Misses Alva Myers.
