WOMAN'S FEAR OF THUNDER
A fear of thunder has cost Lady Ainsworth, of Kilchrenan, Scotland, £2. She was summoned at Oxford recently for exceeding the thirty mile an hour speed limit, and- it was stated that she averaged forty-two miles an hour over two miles of road. Lady Ainsworth wrote pleading guilty and explained that she was in a hurry as she wanted to get to Woodstock before the thunderstorm broke because “ I am very nervous of thunder.” She added that she was unsuccessful and “ had to shelter in a pub three miles from Woodstock.” Lady Ainsworth, who is the wife of Sir Thomas Ainsworth, was fined £2,
