SPLENDID CIVIC GIFT
RESIDENCE OF LATE SIR JOHN ROBERTS ACCEPTED BY CITY COUNCIL The ofl'er oi' the family of Sir John Roberts to present to the city his late residence, Littlebourne House, for use as a vice-regal residence, or, failing that, for such other use or public purpose as might be decided upon, was communicated to the Citv Council at a special meeting held yesterday afternoon. Councillors spoke in glowing terms of appreciation of this munificent offer, and it was decided gratefully to accept it. ft was further decided to approach the Government with a request that it should furnish Littlebourne House suitably for its use as a vice-regal residence.
