DUNEDIN STOCK EXCHANGE Bank ot New Zealand shares revealed a hardening tendency this morning with reported business at 47s 7d, and further buyers at 47s 9d, and nq seller. Westport Coals and D.I.C. prefs. also had business at recent rates. Commercial Banks continued in good demand, and New Zealand “Long D’s ” also had better inquiry. In the shipping section Howard Smiths had a margin of Is between the quotations, and Huddart, Parker profs, and Union Steam prefs. had unsupplied buyers. Investors maintained a steady demand for meat preserving shares, and Refrigerating contributing provided the only seller. Buyers of Associated News shares offered 3d more without attracting sellers, and New Zealand Newspapers and 1 Otago Daily Times ’ also had improved inquiry without eliciting a reply from present holders. Woolworth’s (Sydney) continued to move in an upward direction. No business was recorded in gold mining shares, though there were very close markets in several instances. Government Loans maintained a strong inquiry, and 4 per cent. Stock (1940) produced a seller 25s above the buyers’ offer. SALES.
