AN OUTSTANDING PLAY
Playgoers will be offered the opportunity o'f witnessing an outstanding play next week, when ‘ Children, in Uniform ’ commences a three nights’ season in the Town Hall Concert Chamber on September 20. The big cast or young players chosen to interpret the adaptation of Christa Winsloe’s German three-act play has been in constant rehearsal for several weeks now, and the producer (Miss Anita Winkel) has successfully awakened the imagination of tiro artists, and has developed the partieular personality of each. 4 Children in Uniform’ is a unique play in that no males are required to take part. It is a comparatively modern work, and in the last few months has claimed the attention of the London public, while critics have loudly acclaimed it as a subtle story pointing a direct moral. In order to ensure that the local production is complete in every detail, special dresses, scenery, and general stage effects have been prepared by experts Th D.T.C. Orchestra, under the leadership of Mr C. A. Martin, lias been engaged to provide the music, and the proceeds arc to augment the funds of the Dunedin Free Kindergarten Association. The box plans will open at the D.I.C. on Friday.
