MEETING OF CENTRE The monthly meeting of the Otago Amateur Cycling Centre was held last -week, there being present Mr C. A. Lucas (chairman), Messrs H. Laws, A. Ockwell, W. M'Donald, and C. G, Lucas. The Honorary Secretary (Mr M. 0. iWiison), Invercargill Club wrote expressing regret at the action oi the centre in recommending alterations in handicaps for his _ club’s race from Gore to Invercargill.—lt was decided that the Invercargill Club be replied to statingthat in future rule 47, which reads; “ Each centre shall appoint a handicapper for all open events in its district, and all handicaps shall be arranged •by the person appointed,” would'be' strictly adhered to. The Honorary Secretary (Mr J. D. Carson), O.M.G. (cycle section) wrote offering assistance on the day of the fifty-mile championship race. Mr Carson also requested that he be informed as to the number of motor cyclists re-quired.—-Left to the secretary to supply information. • , Mr Ockwell reported on a meeting held by the Pacific Club, when the three trustees appointed by his centre to sign the deed of trust drawn up between the two bodies, were present. Mr Ockwell reported that all three trustees had duly signed .the agreement, and that trusteees from the Pacific Club had still to be appointed. When this was done written notice would he sent to the centre, Mr Ockwell also stated that cups would be insured by the Pacific Club when insuring its own trophies, the centre being required to pay a percentage of the premium.—The report was received. On the motion of Mr Ockwell, the secretary ; (Mr Greenfield) was instructed to, procure a book in which to insert the names of all cups and conditions of holding.—The motion, which was seconded by Mr Lucas, was carried. _ ’ That two advisory handicappers be appointed for the remainder of the road season was moved by Mr Ockwell, seconded by Mr Lucas. Mr A. Ockwell and Mr F. Greenfield were duly appointed advisory handicappers. * The prize list for the fifty-mile championship was again discussed, and resulted as follows, there being two alterations in the list drawn up at the last meeting:—First: Biggs Challenge Cup, gold medal (donated by Mr Stevenson), also cup valued at 17s 6d (donated by Mr Ockwell). Second: Silver medal (gold centre), and trophy order, value 10s. Third: Tyre and Silver medal. Fourth: Tyre and tube (donated by Mr Fogarty). Fastest time: Dawson Challenge Cup, gold medal, and championship riband. Second fastest time: Silver medal (gold centre). Fastest time (junior): championship riband. Teams race: Teacher’s Challenge Cup and four silver medallions. • It was decided to write to the honorary secretary, O.M.C. (cycle section) asking for the services of six motor cyclists (one to have sidecar), if possible. The flagging of the course was left to Mr C. G. Lucas to arrange. The following officials were appointed for the race:—Superintendent, Mr A. Ockwell; referee, Mr C. G. Lucas; judges—Messrs J. Fletcher, F. Greenfield, H. Laws, H. Ockwell; starter, Mr J. Fletcher; timekeepers—■ Messrs C. T. Gilchrist, sen., C. A. Lucas, A. Ockwell; course stewards—■ H. Laws, A. C. Paterson, J. Stewart, H._ Annison, J. C. Fogarty, G. Sinclair, W. Sivertsen, C. A. Lucas, C. Gilchrist, and F. Greenfield; number steward, H. Annison. It was moved by Mr C. G. Lucas that the junior championship be not open to any competitor previously winning the junior- championship, even though he may still be under eighteen years on the day of the race. The-motion, which was seconded by Mr Ockwell, was carried.
