GERMAN COTTON ORDERS
UNPAID DEBTS OFFER TO LANCASHIRE REJECTED Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, September 10. Germany has made definite proposals to a Lancashire cotton delegation with a view to the early payment of £500,000 debts to British yarn exporters by means of a barter system, but Lancashire does not favour the proposal, as it would require the establishment of a special exchange at Manchester. Moreover, cotton firms lack the expert knowledge necessary to market the various commodities successfully. THE BERLIN NEGOTIATIONS. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, September 10. (Received September 11, at noon.) Sir Frederick Leith Ross received at the Treasury Sir George - Holden and other members of the Lancashire cotton delegation which returned from Berlin after negotiating with German importers of cotton yarns regarding delays in payment owing to the German exchange restrictions. The proposals made to the delegation in Berlin will be reported by Sir Georg© Holden to a meeting in Manchester of the Federation of Master Cotton Spinners’ Association.
