RADIO BEACON

TO BE BUILT AT BARING HEAD A radio beacon is to be erected at Baring Head, Wellington, where, the new high level light to replace the Pencarrow light is at present under construction. The erection of the beacon is conditional on the site proving suitable after investigation. This decision is announced in the report of the Marine Department presented to Parliament. The report states that after considerable delay from causes entirely beyond control it has been found possible again to consider the question of erecting radio beacons around the coast. In addition to the Baring Head beacon, it is proposed to erect a temporary beacon at Tiri Tiri, Matangi-, Hauraki Gulf. Further beacons ere to be erected as soon as the controlling circumstances permit. ‘
