AMBASSADCRS' DANCE Special features of this evening’s dance to be held by the South Dunedin Unemployed Association in the South Dunedin Town Hall, will be two Monte Carlos, with cash prizes for the ladies and other suitable prizes for the men. In addition to these there will be a ladies’ and gentlemen’s lucky door number, the prizes for which will be of value and use to the winners. The programme is arranged to suit those wishing either old-time or modern dances. The band for this evening has arranged to play a medley of old and new numbers. CONCERT AT ST. HILDA An enthusiastic audience greeted the St. Joseph’s Orphanage Boys’ Band, which supplied the major portion of the programme in the Coronation Hall, St. Kilda, on Sunday evening in aid of the funds of the mayor s relief depot. Every item was well received, and encores were numerous. The band played the march ‘ The Favourite,’ a hymn ‘ Bright Christmas,’ a waltz ‘ Burgundy,’ and the march ‘ Greetings from Egypt.’ A cornet solo, with band accompaniment, ‘ The Rosary,’ was played by Bandsman A- Campbell, and a soprano cornet solo, ‘ O Lovely Night,’ was given by Bandsman J. Harnott, while the tenor horn solo, ‘ Jenny Jones,’ was played by the New Zealand champion, Peter Glen. The remainder of the programme .was as follows:—Popular numbers, Mr Tom Dillon, accompanied by the Hilo Hawaiian Guitar Trio; vocal duet, Misses Lorimer and Speckling; elocutionary items, Misses Pamela Gilbert and Veronica Proctor: popular vocal solos, Misses Lorimer and Spedding; selections, the Hilo Hawaiian Guitar Trio. Cr A. Morison was the chairman, and called for a hearty vote of thanks to Mr D. Whelan and his hand, the other performers, and the accompanists (Miss K. V helan and Mr J. G. Kcarslcy). this being earned bv acclamation. He announced a special programme for next Sunday, when the “ Arcadians’ Symphonic Orchestra,’ Miss Finnerty’s children's choir, Mr and .Mrs Edward Mee, Mr \\ . R. Watts, and others would contribute items.
