The salute of twenty-one guns was unnecessary to awake the populace, who were already crowding the canal front. The Sussex crept to her moorings past the Queen Elizabeth, which was fully dressed and manned as the Duke and his staff, in tropical dress, stood to attention on the bridge. All shipping was beflagged. The Duke later fiew to Cairo to meet his friends in the Twelfth Lancers mess, whose guest he was overnight.
The Sussex traverses the canal tonight, and the Duke re-embarks at Suez to-morrow.
