LABOUR PARTY'S CAHDWATES SELECTION FOR. DUNEDIN SEATS The Labour Party’s ' candidates to contest seats at the next general election are;—Dr D. G. M’Millan (Dunedin West), Mr P, Neilson (Dunedin Central), and Mr N. Campbell (Chalmers). Labour, at present holds the Dnnedm North and South seats. ' The ballots to select the candidates closed on Saturday, baying been in progress among members in the three electorates since the previous Monday. It is understood that the voting was light, the biggest proportion of votes to membership being cast by the Waterside Workers’ and Seamen’s Unions, which were provided with facilities for recording the votes. Other members of the party voted by postal ballot. | Dr M‘Millan, who is in practice at Kurow, is the only new parliamentary aspirant, hut his candidature -for the Dunedin West seat has been known for some time. The other candidates were Messrs B. O’Donnell and J. Gilchrist. Dr M'Millan will oppose Mr Downie Stewart. • For the Dunedin Central seat, at present held by the speaker (Sir Charles Statham), the aspirants for Labour’s seal were Messrs P. Neilson, Ralph Harrison, and Mrs A, Herbert. Mr Neilson is the selected candidate. He opposed Sir at the last election. Two past campaigners, Messrs Norman Campbell, president of the Port Chalmers Waterside Workers’ Union and M. Connelly, were candidates for Chalmers, and Mr Campbell will again oppose Mr A. E. Ansell.
