HOGILLA WINS THE STAKES SYDNEY, September 9. Tattersall’s Club races were held in lino weather, but the course was holding. Topical did not start in the Spring Handicap. Rogilla’s winnings are now within £SOO of £20,000. Results;— TRAMWAY- HANDICAP, 500sovs. 7f. Mr W. T. Booth’s b in ROMAN SPEAR (Spearhead—Royal Romance), syrs, 7.12 (Zensky) ... 1 Mr T. J. Brosnan’s Lough Neagh, 8.11 (Webb) ..: 2 Mr G. Lightford’s Whittingham, 8.8 (M'Carten) ... ... ... ... 3 Twenty-one started, including Golden Wings, Closing Time, Golden Hair, The Masquerader, and Prince Pombal. . Won by a head, with half a length between second and third. Golden Gate was fourth, then Golden Wings, while Closing Time, The Masquerader, and Golden Hair were well back. Time, Imin 2Gsec. The stewards inquired into Golden Wings’s interference with Cid and Cercello at the start, and returned a verdict that it was accidental. CHELMSFORD STAKES, l.OOOsovs. 1m and If. Mr L. Haigh’s ch g ROGILLA (Roger de Busli—Speargilla), aged, 9.8 (D. Munro) 1 Mr R. R. Danger’s Peter Pan, 9.11 (J. Munro) 2 Mrs J. S. Brunton’s Gladswood, 7.3 (Britt) 3 Nino started, including Nightly and Marcus Cicero. Most of the running was ’made by The Marne and Gladswood, but Peter Pan, although running unkindly, was always prominent. Rogilla was last away from the barrier, as usual, but made up his lost ground and won full of running by half a length, with two lengths and a-half between second and third. Nightly met with interference in the straight from The Marne, but the stewards expressed the opinion that it was accidental. Nightly finished fifth, and showed no sign of lameness. _ Duke Caledon was seventh. Time, Imin 525 sec. Marcus Cicero was last. SPRING HANDICAP, SOOsovs. I’m. Mr H. White’s ch h ORO (Roger de Busli — Sweet Alison), sjts, 8.4 (Cook) 1 Mr E. .1. Watt’s Waikare, 7.12 (Weiss) 2 Mr T. Cush’s Journal, 7.12 (Knox) ... 3 Seventeen started, including Limarch, Shatter, Red Rufus, and Caliente. Won by five lengths, with half a length between second and third. Liinarch was a close fourth and Red Rufus eleventh. Time, 2min 6isec. WELTER HANDICAP, 300sovs. Im. Mr J. T. Jamieson’s b g KODAPEN (Valkyrian—Podokes), 6yrs, 9.0 (Bartle) 1 Buonarotti, 8.7 (Weiss) 2 Regalson, 9.11 (Munro) 3 Twenty started, including Deputy Ruler, Martian Chief, Saltspray, and Capris., Won by a neck, with five lengths between second and third. _ Deputy Ruler was Seventh. Time, Imin 40sec. In the Hurdle Race Jayson was fifth. Tin's race was won by Green Sea, with the crushing burden of 13.7, from Underwood and Newbold Boy.,
