PROBLEM MEN WHOSE WORK IS UNSATISFACTORY (Per United Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, September 7. Problems confronting the Employment Committee of the Returned Soldiers’ Association were placed before a meeting of registered unemployed returned soldiers to-day. ■ The committee sought the men*s opinion whether the roll of unemployed returned soldiers- should be purged by removing the names of those men who did not give satisfaction when sent out to work, or who were unemployable. It ■ was stated that some men employed at 12a. 6d daily, 6s 3d of which was paid by tho employer and 6s 3d by the association out of the canteen funds and other grants, did not work satisfactorily, and their answer was that they had done 6s 3d worth of labour, and the other 6s 3d they considered was their own in any case, as all the caliteeii funds should be the

property of the returned soldiers. It was decided after discussion that if a man were unfavourably reported upon by his employer, the unemployment, officer and the Employment Com. mittee should decide whether he shoul d be given any more work.. It was explained in tho discussion that, thoss men not given work would be given help on a lower scale by the Benevolent Committee. WORK OH FARMS AVAILABLE ASHBURTON, September 7.
