ROYAL DUNEDIN MALE CHOIR
It will be of interest to lovers of male voice part singing to learn that the Royal Dunedin Male Choir will hold another of its concerts in the Town Hall on Monday evening. The lady soloist will be Miss Alison Tyrie. whose items will be the recitative and aria from ‘Samson and Delilah,’ ‘O Love! From Thy Powers ’ (SaintSaens), and ‘Wonder’ (Schubert). Miss Elvira Wycherley will present the violoncello solos, ‘ Andante from Concerto in C Major ’ (Haydn) and ‘ Minuetto ’ (Hugo Beckes) m the first part of the programme, and ‘ Habanera ’ (Ravel) and * Arlequin ’ (Popper) in the second half. Mr William E. Mills (tenor) will be heard in a composition by G. Coleridge-Taylor, and Mr Edward Bond in a song by C. W. Elliott. The choir items are 4 A Song to David ’ (Easton), * Sigh No More, Ladies’ (Dunliill), a lovelv glee, ‘ The Cloud Capp’d Towers ’ (Robertson), a bright folk song, ' Bobby Shnftoe,’ and ‘ The Rising. Storm’ (Newman), in which the last two lines are sung by a serai-chorus. Other part songs by the men are ‘ Queen of the Night ’ (Smart), an old English melody. 1 Caleno Custure Me ’ (Harris),, the soloists in winch are Mr William Fyfe (tenor) and Mr Cecil S. Hawes (baritone), and Ayl ward's tuneful 1 Song of the Bow.’ The box plans are at Begg’s, where programmes are on sale.
