ANDERSON'S BAY PRESBYTERIANS
'ANNUAL CHURCH MEETING There was a large attendance at the seventy-second annual meeting ol the Anderson’s Bay Presbyterian Church, over - which the Rev. G. H. Jupp presided. The session reported that despite the difficulties of the period under review the work of the congregation had gone on quietly and surely. The attendance at the regular quarterly communion services had been good; thirteen names had been added to the roll, ten of them on profession of faith. On the other hand, nine-members had died and twenty-one have removed from the district. The Children’s 'Worshipping League was working well, the roll number and attendance alike being distinctly good. There were over 300 children in the three Sunday schools and sixty young men and women -in the - Bible classes. In this department the work was being carried on efficiently, and the possibilities were very real. . .
The Presbyterian Women’s Missionary Union had met regularly throughout the year and has' sought to do all in its power to keep before the congregation the work which was being carried on by the missionaries at home and abroad.. The, library of missionary literature was growing steadily, and the members were making use of the books increasingly. The Busy Bee Hive was active in various ' ways, cleaning stamps, making scrap-books and jig-saw puzzles, quilts and singlets, and so on. In addition they had earned over £5 which has been added to the mission funds. The Maori Mission Birthday League contributed over £l6. In all the P.W.M.U. handed over £lO9 to missions. The total contributions of the congregation to the schemes of the church had been almost £252, an increase for the-year of over £lB. The choir, under the leadership of Mr James Clark, numbered forty-three. The attendance at practice as well as at the regular services of the church was excellent, and the standard of choral work very high. The congregation was distinctuy fortunate in this respect. . , ~ It was pleasing to note that the members of the Bible ■ classes were ever ready to carry out any duties laid upon them with a willing and thoroughly cheerful efficiency. They had on several occasions conducted the evening service with profit to aIL The statement of receipts and expenditure showed a debit balance, unfortunately, which is was hoped will be liquidated by a special offering to be taken on Sunday, September 9. the choir members contributed several items during the evening. Regret at the impending departure from the, district of Mrs and Mrs L. G. Wells was expressed by, the chairman and others. Their removal will leave a distinct gap in the Bible class and Sunday school work, which it will not ,lje easy to fill.
