CLAIM ON FUR COAT

JUDGMENT FOR DEFENDANT COMPANY The case in .which Mrs Jessie G. Scurr preceded against the New Zealand Fur Company Ltd, in a claim for £35 was concluded in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday afternoon. Mrs Scurr sought to recover £25 as the value of a marmot fur coat which, she contended, had been rendered useless by the company when it effected repairs, and £lO she paid for the repairs. After hearing the evidence, Mr J. R. Bartholomew • remarked that it was a pity that the matter had come before the court, especially after the defendants had made very reasonable proposals to complete the work to the plaintiff’s satisfaction. Apparently, the plaintiff had been misled by measurements she had made and had become obsessed fay the idea that the coat had beep, remodelled. He was prepared to accept the evidence for the defence that this was not so. Th plaintiff had expressed considerable dissatisfaction, but all that he could see wrong was the set of the collar, and this, he was assured, was a trivial matter. The plaintiff could not succeed in her claim, and the defendant company was entitled to judgment, with solicitors’ fees (£3 3s).
