SKI ACCIDENT AT BALL PASS. Miss Dorothy Wilkins, one of the skiers who had’ intended to compete in the Grand National ski championships at Mount'Cook' this week; injured her ankle while ski-ing on the Ball Pass yesterday, and had to ;be helped down the pass to the Ball Hut by relays of men skiers from an altitude of about 5,000 feet. For a part of the difficult journey Miss Wilkins had. to be- carried.— Christchurch Press Association. SUDDEN COLLAPSE. The sudden death occurred on Saturday night at Invercargill of Robert M'Qombe, a married man, aged fortythree years, who collapsed on leaving a' social function in the Georgetown Hall. He had been employed on the staff of the ‘ Southland Times ’ as- a linotype operator for the past twentythree years.—Press Association. ■ YOUNG CYCLIST HURT. Whilst riding a cycle' yesterday, Owen Johns, aged thirteen, had . a bone ; fractured in his right foot when it slipped from the pedal and became wedged' between the wheel .and the frame of the machine.
