COLOGNE, A CITY OF CHURCHES. —A view of Cologne, on the Rhine, in Germany. The ancient buildings in Cologne, particularly its churches, are of great architectural interest, and attract many visitors each year. The one of the noblest specimens of Gothic architecture in existence, is one of the show-places of Europe. It was begun in the 12th or 13th century, although founded in 814. It can be seen in the middle of this picture.
