All of these are annoying, hut lice, being carriers of typhus, are a positive danger. A mouse trap -would not come amiss.” The traveller is recommended to take with him, among other things, naphthalene or moth-balls, a tin of insect powder. and some disinfectant. On the question of food, Mr Moen writes of the restuarants: “The food is pretty mediocre on the whole, and you will ' cat in these restaurants more from necessity than as an epicurean joy.” As to fish: “Truth, compels mo to he rather moj-e pessimistic. . . . Experiment with fish cautiously.” The author mentions that the quantity of roughage in the diet, and particularly in the black bread, may cause serious diarrhoea.
