GAOL SENTENCES
STREET DISTURBANCE CROWD HOSTILE TO POLICE [Per United Pres* Association.] AUCKLAND, May 21. Four men, including a naval petty officer, appeared in the Police Court;as the sequel to a disturbance in the city on Saturday night. 'lt was stated that a large crowd gathered when the ponce were trying to make arrests, and was very hostile. _■ , Joseph Henry Hayes (24), a labourer, for obstructing the police, was sentenced to fourteen days; George Laward Porter (24), engineer and labourer, for assaulting a constable, one month’s imprisonment; (36), a labourer, for inciting the C'owd to disorder, twenty-one days; Daniel Char es Pyke (34), a stoker, was ordered to bo banded over to the naval authorities. -
