Tlio fortnightly meeting of the Royal Oak Lodge was held on Monday night last, A.D. Bro. L. M'Keich presiding over a fair attendance of members. The report of the recent Grand Lodge meeting in Invercargill, which had been held over from previous meeting, was given by the delegates, and Bros. T. Hudson and A. J Hinton were thanked for their report, which was adopted. The report of tlvc dispensary delegates mis also received and discussed, it was decided that the entry of a team lor the Ross Stewart Shield be left in the hands of the M.C., Bro. Churchill, it was also decided that a challenge should be issued for the Cribbage Shield, at present held by the Pride of Mornington Lodge. Bros. T. Hudson and Churchill wore appointed as delegates on a combined Ball Committee. The election of P.A. Bro. H. R. Hunt and P.A. Bro. J. M. Robertson to the progress Juvenile Executive should prove an acquisition to a deserving and worthy cause. D.P. Bro. Metcalfe paid his first official visit, and the lateness ot his arrival did not diminish the warmth of his welcome. A.D. Bro. H. Tyrrell presided over a fair muster of Linden Lodge members at the fortnightly meeting in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Roslyn. Correspondence included a letter from D.P. Bro. Bundle asking for two delegates to the proposed Ball Committee. Bro. P. Jenkins and Morrison being duly elected. Sick pay was heavy, a large sum being passed for payment. A report from the Dance Committee was received and discussed. Arrangements for the Ross Stewart team were completed. The syllabus item being Ladies’ IS'ight,” the lodge was adjourned to admit ladies and friends. The inclement night affected the attendance, but a good crowd spent a pleasant evening in dancing and hearing instrumental items by soloists from the Kaikorai Novelty Serenaders’ Band. Lily of the Valley Lodge, No. 11, (J.A.0.D., held its fortnightly meeting in the Albany Street Hall on Wednesday last. Arch Druid Bro. N. A. Ingle presided over a good attendance of officers and brothers. An invitation from Court Woodland’s Pride was received, inviting the lodge to a social evening in the Embassy Salon to-nigbt. The lodge decided to attend officially. A letter from the District President asking the lodge to appoint two delegates for the Ball Committee was received, P.A.s Bros. 0. Wahrlich and H. Green being appointed. The good health of members was again noted, when sickpay amounting to £2 10s was passed for payment. The lodge.moved that a challenge be issued to Otago Lodge to play for the euchre shield, and also that a challenge to Pride of Mornington Lodge for the cribbage shield bo issued. P.A. Bro. Green reported on attending the annual meeting of the Friendly Societies’ Dispensary Committee, and was thanked. Bro. Dr Fulton visited the lodge and addressed the brothers on 1 Pioneer Doctors in the Gold Rush Days in Otago.’ He was thanked heartily by all present for a very amusing and interesting entertainment. Suppej was then handed round by the stewards and the usual toasts were honoured. The next meeting, being quarter night, will commence at 7.30 on Wednesday, May 30. At the last meeting of the Royal Arch Chapter, No. 1, I.P.R.A.D. Bro. Bundle presided over a good attendace of officers and members. Secretary Bro. E. Reeves reported on the presentation of the Beazley banner to the Lily of the Valley Lodge, and a decision was arrived at with regard to the reconditioning of the banner. The R.V.A. reported on several visits paid officially by the chapter officers, and expressed gratification at the number which accompanied him. After disposing of the routine business the chapter conducted a Past Arch charge competition. There were a good number of entrants, and R.I.P.A. Bro. Handle and R.A. Treasurer Bro. Young, who acted as judges, declared P.D.P. Bro. G. Wilson the winner of the trophy, and expressed pleasure at the high standard attained by all the competitors. The secretary was instructed to write to all lodges notifying them that the Ross Stewart shield competition would be held on June 23 in the Ivanhoe Lodge room. P.D.P. Bro. Bezett, P.D.P. Bro. Faulds, and P.A. Bro. Maslin were elected to act as judges for the competition. A.D. Bro. Vernon presided over the last meeting of ivanhoe Lodge, No. 17. held in the Manchester Unity Chambers, Stuart street, on Wednesday last, when he was greeted by a fair attendance of members and visitors. Amongst the correspondence were two letters, one from Otago Lodge to attend its anniversary on June 18, and one from the D.P. asking the lodge to appoint two delegates for the Druids’ annual ball. Treasurer Bro. Wilson and P.A. Bro. Anderson were elected delegates. The bards reported fully on their visits to sick members, and sick pay was passed for payment. The secretary was instructed to write a letter of sympathy to a brother in his recent bereavement, and also to challenge Pride of Morniugton Lodge for the cribbage shield. This being all the business, the lodge then stood adjourned for the purpose of carrying out the syllabus, a dance. Later supper was handed round.
